Television, Film and New Media

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

The Television, Film and New Media major prepares
students for careers as producers, directors, writers, cinematographers, art directors, sound engineers, editors, and animators. The program's professional focus on storytelling through sound and moving images includes theory, philosophy and technique. State-of-the-art methods are a part of all of the film and media production courses. The TFM program has been in the vanguard of the move to seamlessly combine film, television and digital technologies to give students a competitive edge in a wide range of creative careers.

Internships with media companies, industry and festival screenings, and regional and national television exposure for outstanding student work enhance a rich curriculum. Student work is showcased at the end of every semester with the TFM Student Film Festival, which is open to the general public.

The Production Center for Documentary and Drama, directed by Filmmaker-in-Residence Jack Ofield, provides extensive practical experience in narrative, documentary and community service projects. It also provides important substantive professional credits. The Emmy-awarded program, The Short List, is produced in the Production Center. Jack Ofield launched the series in 1992.
