THE PRODUCTION CENTER FOR DOCUMENTARY AND DRAMA

The Production Center for Documentary and Drama is located in the School of Theatre, Television and Film in the Communication building. The award-winning Center is the professional production arm of SDSU and home of the nationally syndicated series, "The Short List." Established in 1990, the Center has fostered more than 100 film and video productions and three series ("The Short List," "Carousel," and the documentary series on life in San Diego County). The Center is dedicated to mentoring the work of senior and graduate film and television students and creating forums for their work, serving the outreach purposes of SDSU, and providing outstanding production services to a range of non profit, educational and government entities. Students have numerous opportunities to serve in key roles on Center productions, such as writer, director, camera crew, and editor. Among the Center's productions are such Emmy Award winners as the Balboa Park history trilogy, the two-part series on homeless youth in San Diego County, the centennial history of SDSU, the 11-part series on boating safety for the State of California, and the two-part series on environmental pollution, narrated by Clint Eastwood, for the Air Resources Board.
