Born in Sweden, educated in Sweden and the U.S.; M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in Theatre Arts, now Professor Emerita of Theatre at San Diego State University.
Scholar/dramaturg/translator/speech coach specializing in "translation" from page to stage of the Scandinavians Ibsen and Strindberg. Board member of the Ibsen Society of America and the August Strindberg Society of Los Angeles, member of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of America. Former Graduate Coordinator and M.A. Adviser for the Theatre Department, she continues to serve the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts as International Council member and International Programs Coordinator.
Nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Strindberg's
The Father, Los Angeles' Ovation Award for Ibsen's
Hedda Gabler, and responsible for the platform text for
Hedda Gabler with Kate Burton on Broadway. Her Strindberg translations have been seen in Minneapolis (
The Crown Bride), Seattle (
Mother Love), Stockholm (
The Father), Los Angeles (
The Pelican, Creditors, The Stronger, Mother Love, The Father, Miss Julie, Abu Casem's Slippers, Swanwhite, the musical) and San Diego (
A Dream Play, Miss Julie, Mother Love). Recent work includes a platform script of
A Doll House for Mabou Mines and translations for the Swedish puppet theatre Tittut, which visited San Diego in Jan. 2005.
