Talented writing, innovative educational filmmaking and a penchant for pitching stories has led to an impressive career in film and television, earning Lee a Lifetime Membership in the Writers' Guild of America. During his 20 years as a working writer/producer in the event-driven industry that is "Hollywood" Lee has written and sold 50 manuscripts, treatments and TV concepts for and at 30 different studios, networks and production companies. A profusion of responsibilities included creating and developing ideas. Pitching stories. Casting talent. Negotiating writer/producer contracts. As story editor on four prime-time television series, Lee supervised all freelance episodic writing, wrote press releases, series blurbs and studio bios for artists and executives alike.
Lee began his professional career shortly after receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Film from San Diego State University. Following graduation, Lee was hired by the federal government to write, direct and produce educational films and training videos for the U.S. Navy. Based in San Diego, Lee teamed with others to spin an ordinary civil service facility into a state-of-the-art media hub by supplanting the "talking face" training film with a series of cutting-edge scripts and award-winning productions that factored imagination and demographics into the teaching of routine subjects.
In June 2000, Lee was invited by North Stone Technologies to create and manage content for interactive, user-friendly avatar-based Websites at BabbleArt Corp., North Stone's animation wing. As VP of Creative/Content/Production, Lee partnered with the University of Colorado's Center For Spoken Language Research (CSLR) to produce text and voice for CSLR's voice-enabled phone applications; and with Production Plant in Hollywood to create spoken interface for voice-enabled animated agents destined for use in computers and interactive television throughout the e-learning community.
Shortly after spearheading North Stone's creative team, Lee was hired by his alma mater, San Diego State University as a lecturing professor. Since arriving on campus for the Fall 2000 semester, Lee has designed and revamped writing course curriculum for both film and television, teaching five different classes for SDSU's School of Theater , Television & Film each year.
