Auditions

Auditions for the Department of Theatre's plays and musicals are open to all current students, faculty and staff.

They are held the first week of each semester, and this Fall they will be on Thursday and Friday, September 3rd and 4th. You'll need to come to the Theatre callboard (second floor) and sign up for an audition time. Come early, at the very beginning of the week, as the slots get taken quickly.

Thursday is for monologues. You have a total of three minutes, we like to see two contrasting monologues, so keep them short, time them carefully. If you are new to SDSU, and this is your first time auditioning you may do just one. Monologues need to be memorized and prepared: make clear specific choices for the character you are playing.

Friday morning we will also be seeing monologues. Friday afternoon are singing auditions for students who wish to be considered for this semester's musical, INTO THE WOODS. Singing auditions are optional, but if you want to sing please prepare a short song (32 bars or a verse and a chorus) from a musical and bring sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist. No a capella auditions or taped auditions will be heard.

This semester auditions will be held in the Don Powell Theatre. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time, check in with the student stage manager backstage, and fill out the Audition Form. You do not need a head shot and resume, although if you have one please bring it with you.

Please print & fill out the audition information sheet and bring to the audition with you.
